33rd YMCA Model Parliament Inter Collegiate Competition 2017

The 33rd YMCA Model Parliament Inter Collegiate Competition was held on Thursday, the 9th November 2017 at 9.30 a.m at the YMCA Banquet A/C. Hall YMCA International Programme Centre, Nrupathunga Road, Bangalore 560 001. This competition was jointly organized by Rotary Bangalore Peenya, YMCA Bangalore and Lions Club of Pyramid. The Inaugural Function began with Invocation by College Students. Dr. M. Antony Isaac, General Secretary, YMCA, welcomed the gathering.

At this unique programme Dr.S. Japhet, Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore Central University, Bangalore was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the 33rd Model Parliament Inter Collegiate Competition and shared his valuable advice and suggestions about the present parliamentary and political systems with the college students who were involved themselves in the Model Parliament Inter Collegiate deliberations. Dr. Maleques, Principal YMCA College of Physical Education & Secretary YMCA Introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. J. Alexander, I.A.S. (Retd), President YMCA presided over the function and gave his remarks about YMCA Mode Parliament Inter Collegiate Competition, Dr. S. Philip Lewis, Vice President YMCA, Mrs. Sashikala Ranka, President, Rotary Jaynagar Greater Club & Rtn. Savitha Suresh, President, Rotary, Bangalore Peenya were the Guests of Honour Mr. Sinil. J. King, Chairperson of the task group proposed vote of thanks. Prior to this final competition the students were given special training by Mr. Harish, Member of YMCA & Youth Parliament Wing Trainer & Advocate. Mr. Vijayakumar.D Member of the Task Group, Dr. Ivy Christopher, Founder/Director, Adarsha Foundation & Mr. R. Prasanna Kumar, Assistant General Secretary, YMCA were the Judges of the competition.

The Valedictory Function was held on Friday, 10th November 2017 at 4.00 p.m. Started with a word of prayer by Dr. Ivy Christopher. Rtn. Shashank Kekre, District Director- Youth Service , R.I. Dist.3190 was the Chief Guest, Dr. M. Antony Isaac, General Secretary, YMCA, welcomed the Chief Guest and the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. Ln. Manoj Shettigar, President, Lions Club Pyramid, Bangalore and Dr. Ivy Christopher, Founder/Director, Adarsha Foundation .Rtn.Suresh.K. Rotary Bangalore Peenya, Ln. Domnic Raj, Lions Club Bangalore Pyramid were the Guests of Honour.

The Task Group members, sponsors and the guests were honoured. Ln.H.K. Giridhar. MJF, Dist. Governor, Dist 317F was present at the valedictory function. Around 240 students from8 different colleges participated in this competition. All the participants were awarded with participant's certificates and the winners & runners were given cash prizes and trophies.
